Port Isaac to Padstow 12

Our B&B owner had lots of Doc Martin gossip and gave us a huge breakfast that we were unable to finish.

There were two alternatives to Port Quin so Margaret took the harder one nearer the coast and I took the slightly easier one a bit inland. Apparently this used to be the old coast path so I wasn't cheating....honest! Anyway my toes were really hurting so that was my excuse.

Port Quin
I met the two girls again at Port Quin and we had seen them yesterday evening in Port Isaac. They had spent the night on the cliff top wild camping and had eaten Soreen and shelled peas for breakfast. That's doing it the hard way. However they were staying at Rick Stein's B&B in Padstow and having a meal there before going home so they did know how to treat themselves.
It was reasonably dry today but very windy.

The Rumps

As Margaret is an A walker she decided to go up The Rumps while I had a short rest.

Once round Pentire Point we got a good view of Polzeath which is where many of the keen surfers hang out. We weren't particularly impressed with the place so didn't linger there very long.

It was plenty windy enough for this to look very exciting in Daymer Bay.

Then through the sand dunes to Rock where we caught the ferry to Padstow.
Padstow Harbour
The Cornish fishermen were all very keen to leave the EU. I hope they won't be disappointed.

Time for a cup of tea and to buy a pasty before making our way up the hill to find the B&B. It was quite a way out of Padstow but well worth it as it turned out to be the best one of the trip.  Betty King at 'Tamarisk' is such a kind lady, treating us like family. We had the use of a large bathroom complete with corner bath and she made Margaret a toasted sandwich. My big toes were very pleased to receive some much needed pampering although the nails were beyond all hope I'm afraid.
